Sam R. Seikel

Sam R. Seikel, 76, of 12059 Mill Race St., Canal Fulton, Ohio and a former Dover and Bellaire resident died Friday, April 13, 2001 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following an extended illness.

Sam retired in March, 1990, as an employee of the U.S. Dept. of Defense. He was also an employee of the former Shenango Penn Mold at Dover.

Born June 23, 1924 in Dover, he was the son of the late Raymond V. and Helen Thompson Seikel.

He was a 1942 graduate of Dover High School. He served as a Naval Aviator in the US Navy during World War II. He was a Life Member of the 40 et 8 in Dover and was also a member of the Dover American Legion and former Drum and Bugle Corp. He served as 10th District Commander of the American Legion in 1961-62. Sam was also a Life Member of the Dover Elks Lodge #975. He enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife Colleen McGovern Seikel with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage on Feb. 14.

Two Sons Peter (Wilma) Seikel of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Joseph (Ellen) Seikel of Huntsville, Alabama.

Two grandchildren Erin Seikel of Nashville, Tennessee and Matt Seikel of Huntsville.

One Sister Betty Cotter of Dover

Sam was preceded in death by one sister, Margie Ann.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Dr. William C. Haggis officiating. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. At Sam�(TM)s request, cremation will take place. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
