Sam A. Argento

Sam A. Argento, 63, of Mineral City, died Wednesday, September 5, 2001, in Union Hospital after a long illness.

Sam worked as a Class A certified welder for 20 years before moving on to the Timken Company where he retired after 23 years as a crane operator.

Born January 26, 1938 at Mineral City, he was son of the late Luigi & Concetta Lauria Argento.

He was an Army veteran who was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas and served on peacetime missions in Korea. A 1956 graduate of Mineral City High School, Sam was a member of the former St. Patrick's Church, now Holy Trinity Church at Bolivar. He was also a charter member of the Sandy Valley Eagles club. Sam had been an avid golfer, was a big Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and most of all loved spending time with his family and being with his grandchildren.

Survivors include:

Former wife of many years, Judy Argento of Dover, two sons; Matt & Kelly Argento of New Philadelphia, Vince & Vicki Argento of Dover, four grandchildren; Heather, Connor & Cassidy Argento of New Philadelphia and Tony Argento of Dover, brothers and sisters; Anna DeMonte Michna of Chicago, IL, Rose & Frank DeMonte Pellegrino of Solon, Frank & Grace DeMonte of Dover, Joe & Twila Argento of Dover, Mary & John Melich of Aurora, Gene & Linda Argento of Mineral City, brother-in-law; Ken Dorsey of Cuyahoga Falls.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by an infant sister and sister Helen DeMonte Dorsey.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, September 10, 2001 at 2:00pm in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Sunday from 2-5pm where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:30.
