S. Emma McCarty, 97, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, October 25, 2004 in Amberwood Manor where she had resided for the last 12 years.
In 1975, she retired from the former Harts Family Center at New Philadelphia.
Born July 27, 1907 in Savanna, TN, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Mary E. Pinson Tidwell.
Over the years, Emma had been affiliated with both the Church of the Nazarene and the First Assembly of God of New Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrell James McCarty, who passed away in September of 1964.
Emma is survived by: a loving daughter, Helen Quillen of New Phila.; four grandchildren, Debra Duffer of Richmond, VA, Teresa Everett of New Phila., Mark (Angela) Quillen of Burleson, TX, and Ethel Quillen of New Phila.; six great grandchildren, Tammy White of MS, Scott Quillen of PA, Robert Duffer III currently stationed in Afghanistan, and Hannah, Sarah and Caroline Quillen all of TX; four step-great grandchildren, Ashley and Destrey Aumiller of TX, Bill (Loretta) Walker and Mike (Lisa) Walker of New Phila; three great great grandsons, two step-great great grandsons and special cousins, Joe and Ruby Pinson of MI, and Johnny Kelley of TX.
In addition to her parents and husband, Emma was preceded in death by: a son-in-law, Clifford Quillen; two grandsons, Louis and David; and two great great grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating Emma�(TM)s life will be held Thursday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 East High Ave., New Phila. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Phila. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
