Ruby E. Hostetler

January 28, 1939 — February 15, 2022

Ruby Hostetler, 83, of Wilmot, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

She was born in Holmes County on January 28, 1939, to the late Emanuel and Alma (Swartzentruber) Mullet. Ruby was a remarkable person and well loved by family and friends. In following her father’s love for horses, she built a beautiful barn and track and spent many years racing horses. Ruby also worked countless hours stitching quilt tops that her mother had pieced, and finishing them for her many family members, friends and acquaintances. Her competitive spirit was obvious in the love she had for playing games with everyone she could get to sit at a table with her. Ruby was a member of Mount Hope Methodist Church where she faithfully led the congregation in song for many years.

She will be dearly missed by her four children, Debra (Aaron) Bell of Strasburg, Kenny (Andrea) Hostetler of Charm, Nathan (fiancée, Linn Turner) Hostetler of Tulsa, OK, Beth (fiancé, Norm Marner) Schmid of Wilmot; her grandchildren, Adam (Sara) Gill, Tabitha Hostetler, Dustin Hostetler, Zachary (Brittney) Bell, Tyler Bell, Ryan (Olivia) Bell, Michael (a special grandson who took wonderful care of his grandmother), Megan and Jason Schmid, Ben and Olivia Hostetler and Sydney Schmid; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Paige and Corbin; her two step great-grandchildren, Addison and Nora; her siblings, Anna Kathryn (Milo) Miller and Mary (Daniel) Miller, both of Walnut Creek, Lillis (Levi) Troyer of Sarasota, FL, Willis (Victoria) Mullet of Pensacola, FL, Sue (Robert) Miller of Middlebury, IN, Merle (Roslyn) Mullet of Berlin and Judy Schenker of Strasburg; her brother-in-law, LeRoy Yoder of Hartville; and her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Adonna Mullet, and her sister, Martha Yoder.
Honoring Ruby’s wishes, there will be no public services. She will be buried next to her parents in Sugarcreek’s Light in the Valley Chapel Cemetery.
