Ronald E. Meek

Ronald E. Meek, 78, of Strasburg, Ohio died Saturday, August 21, 2004 in Union Hospital following an extended illness.

Ron retired in 1987 as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight where he worked for over 27 years.

Born May 13, 1926 in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Gaynell Boring Meek.

He was in the U.S. Navy from September, 1944 to June 1946 where serving in the South Pacific. He was a life member of the Dover VFW and the Dover Army Navy Club. He also belonged to the Charles Hofer Post of the American Legion in Strasburg since 1955. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and furniture.

Ron is survived by his brother, Donald (Martha) Meek of Strasburg and two sisters, Dorothy Meek of Strasburg and Louise (William) Johnson of North Canton along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Stanley “Eddie” Meek and a sister, Rosemary Roth.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Strasburg with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends will be received on Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
