Rodney L. Ward

Rodney L. “Rod” Ward, 51, of Dover, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Rod�(TM)s health forced him to retire in 2003 from the Praxair Company at Canton where he had worked for 11 years as a truck driver.

Born January 4, 1953 at South Eckstein, Ohio, he was the son of Rebecca Morris Ward of Dover and the late Merle D. Ward.

Rod was a graduate of Dover High�(TM)s class of 1971 and later graduated from the Detroit Diesel School. He served in the Army Reserve as a member of the 361st Military Police Company.

A Hog member, Rod was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast who took great pride in his bike and enjoyed the many good times spent with fellow riders.

He is survived by: two loving children, Angela Ward of North Canton and Eric Ward of New Philadelphia; a grandaughter Riley of New Philadelphia; a brother, Merle (Linda) Ward, Jr. of Strasburg; and two sisters, Glenda (Jerry) Fostor of Fresno and Betty (Gary) Whiteman of Virginia.

In addition to his father, Rod was preceded in death by: two brothers, Floyd D. and Larry E. Ward; and a brother-in-law, Jeffery J. Duda.

A ceremony that celebrates Rod�(TM)s life will be held Saturday, August 28, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Allen Bergmann officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following the burial, a reception will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
