Rockford Lee "Rocky" Boylan, 56, a resident of Panama City, FL, who lived most of his life in Strasburg, died Friday, October 3, 2008.

He was born September 13, 1952 at Massillon, and was the son of Mary Jane (husband, Fred) Kennedy Aul of Strasburg and David D. Boylan of Florida.

A 1970 graduate of Strasburg High School, Rocky was active on many Tiger athletic teams, and even held the school's pole vault record for several years. He was very outgoing and easy to talk with. He had an engaging personality that ranged from charming to charismatic. Rocky loved to read and was well versed on a variety of subjects.

Growing up as the oldest child in the family, Rocky was the "ringleader" for all of the mischief and fun that he and his brothers had growing up.

He had owned and operated the former Rockford Mills oak furniture store in Strasburg and was described as a caring owner and a hands-on worker, working closely with each employee on projects to ensure quality results.

Rocky is survived by his fianc, Esmeralda "Moni" Soltero of Panama City, FL.

Other surviving family members include: four children, Heather (Chuck) Howe of Lehi, UT, Gretchen (Phil) Bragg of Pflugeville, TX, Scotty Boylan of Akron, and Sean Boylan of California; three grandchildren, Madison & Kendra Howe, and Olivia Bragg; three brothers, Sanford (Karen) Boylan of Mt. Vernon, Daniel (Brenda) Boylan of Strasburg, and John (Holli) Boylan of Strasburg; along with nieces and nephews, Jessica, Lucas (wife, Jessica) Shayla, Heath, and Kristen Boylan.

Rev. Gary Friend will officiate a private service for the family. There are no public services or calling hours.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
