Robert L. "Bob" Mueller

Robert L. "Bob" Mueller, age 86, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in Hennis Care Centre at Dover.

He was a son of the late Robert A. and Ida Newbauer Mueller, and was born April 16, 1930, in a doctor's office at East St. Louis, Illinois, which was an unexpected stop on a Sunday afternoon drive that his parents had taken from their home in St. Louis, Missouri. Bob moved with his family at a young age to the State of New York, and graduated high school there in the village of Waterloo. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Clarkson College of Technology at Clarkson, New York, and served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. He married the former Angela Passalacqua on August 15, 1959. Bob retired as a mechanical engineer from Liqui-Box at Columbus, and had also been employed by the General Tire & Rubber Company. In retirement, Bob and Angela moved to Florida where they resided for over 20 years, before moving to Dover in 2013.

Bob was a member of the Dover Kiwanis Club, and was a past Kiwanis District Lieutenant Governor. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing bridge and pinochle, working sudoku puzzles, and birdwatching.

Survivors include his loving, caring wife of 57 years, Angela; his children, Robert A. (Mona) Mueller of Dover, Rhonda Bishop of Clarkesville, Georgia, Andrew (Laura) Mueller of Buffalo, New York, and Louis Mueller of Port Orange, Florida; his grandchildren, Lara (Bob) Lejsovka, Joy Mueller, Michael II and Anthony Bishop, Alec and Abigail Mueller, and Harold "Buddy" Flowers; his first great-grandchild - expected in June; his step-grandchildren, Emily and Alan Standfield, Andrew and Ian Tran; his sister, Virginia Clark of Hixson, Tennessee; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Joyce Passalacqua; his sisters-in-law, Edna and Joyce Mueller; and his many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his infant son, Robert Andrew Mueller; his son-in-law, Michael Bishop (on October 31, 2016); his sisters, Ida Asbrand, Emily Capua, and Mary Downes; and his brothers, Joseph and Harold Mueller.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield of Dover's St. Joseph Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard at Dover.
