Robert H. Welch

Robert H. “Bob” Welch, 80, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage following an extended illness.

He retired from Union Camp after 37 years of service.

Born May 6, 1923 in Uhrichsville, Ohio he was a son of the late Fred U. and Catherine Beitler Welch.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia and was an Army Air Corp. Veteran of WW II. When he was not working, Bob enjoyed hunting, cards and spending time with his family.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary “Irene” Barkley Welch with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on April 22, 2004.

He is also survived by three sons: James (Karen) Welch of New Philadelphia
William (Cindy) Welch of New Philadelphia
Larry (Becky) Welch of Nashport, Ohio

Sister: Anne Hawkins of Portland, Oregon

Seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Welch and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2004 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Rev. Michael Seely and Rev. Stuart Barr officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Interment will be at the Evergreen Burial Park on Monday.
