Richard P. "Dick" Fach

July 27, 1937 — May 13, 2016

Richard P. "Dick" Fach, age 78, of Leesburg, Florida, and a former resident of Zoar, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, in The Villages Hospice House, The Villages, Florida, after battling cancer.

Born July 27, 1937, in East Canton, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Della Z. Leggett Fach. Dick graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1955 and married his high school sweetheart, the former Helen Kinch, on New Year's Eve the same year. He was employed by the Canton City Fire Department for twenty-seven years, and was honored as Fire Fighter of the year in 1991. He also served as vice president of Local 249 of the International Association of Fire Fighters. Dick retired from Station No. 9 in 1992 as a well-respected captain. He was a hard-worker all of his life, doing construction and owning his own concrete business. Dick was a member of Canton Lodge No. 60 F. & A.M.

He was a loving, devoted family man and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and their achievements. Dick's pastimes included fishing on Lake Erie, playing golf, and travel historical sites and Amish Country were favorite destinations. He loved the spending time at the ocean as well as being with family and friends in Ohio, Arizona and California.

Dick will be sadly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Helen; his children, Richard Fach Jr. of Surprise, Arizona, Lori (Steve) Sicurella, Polly (Mike) Pace and Jeffrey (Julie) Fach, all of Dover; his grandchildren, Andrew (Fannie) and Kyle Fach, Shaye-Marie Sicurella, Kohl and Taylor (fiance, Niki Layne) Fach; his great-grandchildren, Andrew Jacob "A.J." Fach Jr. and a second great-grandchild expected in October; and his wonderful nieces and nephews in Ohio, Arizona, Alaska and California; his sister-in-laws, Jane and Gail Fach; and his second family, now all retired - with lasting memories - his fellow firefighters.

Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Kisela, Margaret Motts, Mildred Holder, Lillian Joy and Helen Squire; and his brothers, Charles, Henry and John Fach.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Thursday, May 19, 5 8 p.m. The Canton City Fire Department will conduct a Last Alarm ceremony on Friday, May 20, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, followed by funeral service, officiated by Minister Jeff Bullock.
