Raymond E. Lahmers, Sr.

Raymond E. Lahmers, Sr., 93, of Dover, died May 1, 2003, in Union Hospital, following a brief illness. It was Raymond�(TM)s joy to have lived on the farm where he worked so hard for so many years, and had so many wonderful experiences, up until the time just before his death.

Born Sept. 26, 1909 on Crooked Run, Dover Twp., Tuscarawas Co., he was a son of the late Ernest and Emma Lieser Lahmers. Raymond attended Penobscot School near Dover, and married the former Josephine Weigand on Aug. 17, 1930. The couple worked and cared for each other for sixty-eight years, until Josephine�(TM)s death in 1998.

Raymond retired from Clow Corp., Parral, following twenty-two years of service, but foremost he was a farmer, having owned and operated Lahmers Polled Hereford Farm.

He was a member of St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ, Dover, Winfield Grange, Tuscarawas Co. Farm Bureau, Tuscarawas Co. Cattlemen�(TM)s Assoc., and was a former member of the Buckeye Polled Hereford Assoc.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy (Clyde) Levengood of Beach City, Marilyn Harrold and Linda (James) Kilgore, both of Dover; and Bud (Helen) Lahmers, also of Dover; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Kim.

In addition to his parents, and his wife, Josephine, he was preceded in death by a grandson; a son-in-law, Roy D. Harrold; three sisters and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 5, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover, with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
