Raymond Altier

Raymond Altier, 63, of Dover, died Friday, June 6, 2008, in his home, following a long illness.

Born, May 18, 1945, in Faeto, Italy, he was the son of the late Paolo and Maria Gallucci Altieri. Raymond attended school in Italy and served in the Italian Army. He came to the United States in 1967, where he earned his citizenship, and was employed by the Dover Chemical Corporation for forty years.

Raymond was a member of St. Joseph Church in Dover. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting, watching baseball, football and soccer. He was also quite a gardener growing vegetables. Raymond loved his family and enjoyed time spent with them.

Survivors include his wife, Consuelo de Jesus Altier, whom he first met in evening English classes, and married on February 25, 1977, in Colombia, S.A.; four sisters, Rafaela (Pasquale) Girardi of Ontario, Canada, Amalia (Carmine) Spinelli of Dover, Dina (Leonardo) Altieri of Canton, and Anna (Mario) Mastri of Spencerport, NY; nine nieces; five nephews; eight great-nieces and thirteen great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by an infant brother, Prospero Altieri.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church with Fr. William L. Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Following the committal there will be a lunch in the St Joseph Family Life Center.
