Pauline E. Hershberger

Pauline E. Hershberger, age 85, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, in Union Hospital, following a brief illness.

Born March 5, 1933, in Sugarcreek Twp., Tuscarawas Co., she was a daughter of the late Henry Ward Beecher and Carrie Marie Spies Medley. Pauline attended school near Sugarcreek, and married Laon A. “Shorty” Hershberger on February 18, 1956. The couple shared forty-one years of marriage prior to Shorty’s passing on August 13, 1997. Pauline was employed by the former Dover-New Philadelphia Laundry and Belmont Stamp & Enameling Co. She was a loving homemaker who especially liked to cook and bake for her family. Pauline belonged to the Dover-New Philadelphia Salvation Army.

Survivors include her children, Franklin (Mary) Hershberger of New Philadelphia, Michael (Jan) Hershberger, Linda (Charles) Jones and Dennis Hershberger, all of Dover, Janet Runyon of Canton, and Shane York of Uhrichsville; her grandchildren, Neysa Presutti, Franklin and Christa Hershberger, Megan Stroup, Charles and Taylor Jones, Ashley Smitley, Tiffany, David Todd and Kelly Runyon, and Tina Smith; her ten great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Shorty, Pauline was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Matthew and Kelly Jones; her four sisters and five brothers.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 28, at 11a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Sugarcreek. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
