Paul K. Herman, 87, of 319 W. 12th St., Dover, Ohio died Monday, April 4, 2005 in his home following a brief illness.

Paul was an insurance agent for 30 years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Following retirement, he worked at the former Sportstown Store in Monroe Mall.

Born December 13, 1917 in Dover, he was the son of the late Adam and Sylvia Foster Herman.

He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church at Dover. He served in the US Navy during World War II and was involved in the Invasions of Sicily and Anzio. He was a 32nd degree mason and member of the Tuscarawas Masonic Lodge in Dover. He was also a member of the Dover American Legion and VFW. He loved sports and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play baseball.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Jewell Herman of 47 years who died October 21, 1993.

He is survived by five children; Jim (Maureen) Herman of New Philadelphia, Mary Jane (Dave) Walton of Dover, Bob (Jill) Herman of Beach City, Sally (Tim) Simpson of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Mike Herman of Orlando, Florida; seven grandchildren, Ryan & Elizabeth Herman, David Walton, Bobby and Teresa Herman, Emily and Ginny Simpson; four great grandchildren, Andrew, Nikolas, Joey, and LaVarion; one brother, William “Bill” (Jean) Herman.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Sean Herman.

A service celebrating Paul�(TM)s life will be held Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. David Wing officiating. Entombment will be in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Dover Burial Park where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military graveside services. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 pm.
