Patricia A. "Teresa" Porter

Patricia A. “Teresa” Porter, 73, of Newcomerstown and recently Park Village New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Community Hospice Truman House.



Born February 11, 1949 in Coshocton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Robert R. and Thelma (Opphile) Kenney. Teresa was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert W. Porter, Jr. They were married July 1, 1968.



Teresa graduated from Newcomerstown High School, class of 1967. Upon graduation, she worked for Shaw-Barton. As a homemaker, she was an active member of the New Philadelphia City Schools Parent-Teacher Associations, a member of the Ohio Child Conservation League, and a volunteer at First United Methodist Church’s Clothes Closet. She later worked at the offices of Dr. Ben Wherley, Dr. Andy Wherley, and Dr. Scott Keating in Dover and Newcomerstown, respectively. Teresa enjoyed crafting, and making jewelry. She was also an avid reader and devoted fan of Nicholas Sparks’ books. She looked forward to visiting her favorite vacation spot, Emerald Isle, North Carolina, and loved spending time with family and friends.



Teresa is survived by her children, Jeffrey Porter, Jeannine and John Dix; her dog, Tilly; siblings, Sandra (Jerry) Stephen, Karen (Joe) Shepherd; numerous nieces and nephews; and a grand-niece.



Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home. In accordance with Teres’s wishes there will be no calling hours and a memorial will be held at a later date.
