Orlando ''Lefty'' Doriche

Orlando Joseph ''Lefty'' Doriche, 76, of 519 E. Wills Ave. Dover, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Dover and grew up on 7th St., home of the infamous ''7th Street Tigers'' and was a lifelong resident of Dover. He was the son of the late Peter Doriche and Teresa Cellini of Italy. Lefty was the owner and operator of Cloverleaf Security. He was a former deputy and captain of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Department under Sheriff A.J. ''Tony'' Young. He then served as chief deputy under Sheriff John R. Barlock.
He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. He was a member of the Ohio State and Buckeye State Assns. of Private Investigators. He was also a member of Dover Moose, Dover VFW, and the Dennison American Legion.

He served his country in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism.

An avid sports fan, Lefty coached various sports at St. Joseph’s School for 40 years.

He is survived by his partner in life and in business, Victoria Wilhelm, of the same address; one daughter, Nancy and Bill Altier of Dover; and granddaughter Billie-Jo Altier of Columbus. He is also survived by a sister, Sue, of Dover. He is also survived by many friends, and no one loved people more than Lefty Doriche.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dominic.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 12 noon in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Dover where the VFW will conduct graveside services. Friends may call in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Tuesday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9. Christian Wake services will be held at 8 on Tuesday.
