Nona Lee German

Nona Lee German, 66, of Dover, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, in Select Specialty Hospital, Canton, following a long illness.

Born Dec. 6, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN, she was a daughter of the late Frank Funkhouser and Juanita Jenkins Funkhouser Verham. Nona moved with her family at a young age to Ohio, and attended school in Sherrodsville. She was employed by the Scio Pottery Co., the Genie Garage Door Co. in Brewster, and as a crossing guard in Dover, but first and foremost, she was a homemaker.

Nona was a member of the Church of Christ in Dover. She enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nona also liked cross-stitching, listening to country music and shopping at Wal-Mart.

Survivors include her husband, Donald R. German, whom she married Nov. 15, 1957, in the Sherrodsville Methodist Church; four daughters, Debra (companion, Tom Srock) Smith of Tippecanoe, Donna (husband, Dean) Miller, Darla (husband, Doug) Truman, and Valerie (husband, Marion) Holloway, all of Dover; two sons, Dennis (wife, Becky) German and Donald (companion, Tracy Yonley) German, both of Dover; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters in California.

In addition to her parents, Nona was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Ivy German, and a son, David Michael German.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Sunday, Feb. 18, 3-6 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with Mark Phillips and Randy Chapman officiating.
