Nicholas A. Incarnato

October 25, 1930 — April 21, 2008

Nicholas A. "Nick" Incarnato, 77, of Dover, died Monday, April 21, 2008, in Aultman Hospital, Canton, following a brief illness.

Born, October 25, 1930, in Dover, he was a son of the late Joseph and Effie Lake Incarnato. Nick graduated from St. Joseph High School, Dover, in 1949, and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He took part in the Chosin Reservoir Campaign and the terrible battle for Hill 902. Nick remained in the Marine Corps Reserves for many years.

Following his active duty time, Nick was employed at the U.S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta for fifty years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover, and the U.S.M.C. G-3-1 (G Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Regiment) Korea Association.

Nick was a kind, simple man. He enjoyed guns (but not hunting), riding motorcycles and watching television. Nick and his wife, Donna, went to the movies every week. He liked car rides, eating at the Eagle Truck Stop and stopped daily at Fundays for a milkshake. One of Nick's biggest joys was to sit on his back porch, "my little corner of the world," as he called it. There, he would watch the wildlife, feeding peanuts to a resident crow -"Russell," the chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits, and wave to the neighbors as they passed.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Maurer Incarnato, whom he married April 30, 1973; three sons, Joseph Michael Incarnato, Bruce Anthony Incarnato and Colin Patrick Incarnato; three grandchildren; special nieces and nephews, Valerie (Phil) Hootman of New Philadelphia, Jayne (James) DeNicola of Winter Springs, FL, and James Incarnato of New Philadelphia; aunts, Dolly Frescki of Dover and Libby Zachek of Cuyahoga Falls; and cousins, including John Incarnato of Canton.

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by a twin daughter and son, Marie Joyce and John August Incarnato; a brother, Joe Incarnato; and a nephew, Joey Incarnato.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, April 24, 6-9 p.m. The family requests that those attending honor Nick by dressing casually. A Christian wake service will be conducted Thursday at 8:45 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Church with Fr. William L. Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Military rites will be performed by the Dover post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Following the committal, there will be a meal in St. Joseph's Family Life Center. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Nick, please visit the funeral home's Web site and click on obituaries.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
