Max Krantz

Max Krantz, 82, of 'Fourmont,' 400 E. 14th St., Dover, died Friday, July 9, 1999 in Union Hospital.

Born April 12, 1917, he was son of the late Edward and Mary Margaret Joyce Krantz of Dover.  He graduated from St. Joseph High School and attended Fenn College at Cleveland.  A life-long active member of St. Jospeh Catholic Church at Dover, he was well known in the community as a businessman and participant in church and community activities.

He received many awards and honors including the Dover Exchange Club's Book of Golden Deeds Award in 1979 when it named him Man of the Year, Dover Garden Club's Appreciation Award, and Ohio Magazine's Most Beautiful Garden in Ohio award for the Krantz Gardens at his 'Fourmont' home.

He is survived by his wife, the former Jane Kraus, whom he wed on April 27, 1941; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Douglas Flood of Toronto, Canada; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Krantz, three grandchildren, and a sister.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Max Krantz, and two sisters.

The Max and Jane Krantz Foundation has been established to benefit the local community in the areas of religion, education, and the arts.
