Marjorie June Harmon

Marjorie June Harmon, 77, of New Philadelphia, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, in Country Club Retirement Center following an extended illness.

Born August 2, 1933, in Sugarcreek, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ruby Feller Shutt. Marjorie married Edward Harmon on October 21, 1955. Edward preceded her in death on May 10, 1996. She is also preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth and Eugene Shutt and infant brother, Keith Shutt.

Marjorie was a homemaker. For many years, she worked at the Goshen Dairy in Dover as well as Reflections in New Towne Mall. She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Beach City where she taught Sunday school. Marjorie also taught Sunday school at Dover Bible Church. She served as a 4-H advisor for many years and volunteered for Hospice. She loved canning and enjoyed competing in canning competitions with her friends at the Tuscarawas County Fair. Other favorite activities included farming, biking, gardening and cooking.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Edward Harmon Jr. of New Philadelphia, Tom (Pam) Harmon of Uhrichsville, Mark (Rebecca) Harmon of Dennison, Holly (Ron) Burger of Baltic, and Ray Harmon of Port Washington; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Freida Harmon of New Philadelphia, Jackie Shutt of Dover, Marge (Lee) Crites of Leesburg, FL; brother in-law, Bill Shrock of New Philadelphia, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Saturday, April 2, at 4 pm. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Sugarcreek, at a later date. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday, 2 4 p.m. Those unable to attend, or who would like to share a fond memory of Marjorie may do so by visiting the "obituaries" link on the funeral home's website.
