Marilyn L. Blickensderfer Foltz

Marilyn L. Blickensderfer Foltz, 84, of Dover passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the Akron General Medical Center.

Born on August 2, 1936 in Dover she was the daughter of the late Verne Fowler and Geraldine Ringheimer Williams.
She was a 1954 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and received her nursing diploma from the Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. Marilyn was proud and dedicated to her nursing profession; she worked as an RN at Doctor’s Hospital in Massillon having retired after many years of service. She was also a private duty nurse at Union Hospital and for Dr. Y Shah. Marilyn was sustained by her faith and her trust in God. Attending church was at the center of her life. She was a long-time member of First Moravian Church in Dover and had also attended the First United Methodist Church, Dover. She was also a member of CCL and a past member of the Ohio Nurses Association. Marilyn loved the outdoors especially camping with her family. She also enjoyed traveling to Yellowstone National Park where she and her husband worked in the camp store during the summer months.

Marilyn is survived by her second husband, Donald Foltz whom she married on July 30, 2016; children, Suzanne (Doug) Rutan of New York, William (Laura) Blickensderfer of Maryland, David (Kelly) Blickensderfer of Westerville; brothers, David (Alma) Fowler of Arkansas, Richard (Liz) Williams of Wisconsin, Verne Fowler of Georgia; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; step children, Eric Foltz (Pepper) of Milan, Jeffrey (Elise) Foltz of Dover, Julie (Dan) Schwerin of Wisconsin; and seven step- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Blickensderfer on October 8, 2013. Together, they celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held on Friday, April 23rd in the First United Methodist Church at Dover starting at 11:00 am with Rev. David St. Aubin officiating. The family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service on Friday. Due to Covid-19 masks and social distancing would be appreciated.
