Marilyn Jane Festi

Marilyn Jane Festi, 91, of Strasburg passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover, Ohio.

Born April 15, 1929 in Dover, she was the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Mildred Lieser Stien. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Eligio R. Festi in 1982; her brother, Thomas Stien; sisters, Linda Siewert, Nancy Keener and granddaughter, Katherine Tope.

She was a graduate of Dover High School and worked locally for some years before moving into her new home in Strasburg where she retired from Ray C. Call after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Katherine Festi of Virginia, Margaret (Neil) Tope of New Philadelphia, John (Delia) Festi of Florida, Jack Festi of New Philadelphia, James (Natashia) Festi Sr. of Sugarcreek; sisters, Margaret "Peg" Lawless of Dover, Beverly (Theron) Hershberger of Orrville; grandchildren, Eric Tope, Ms Jackee, James Jr., Elizabeth and Joseph Festi; great grandchildren, Cody and Olivia Tope, James Festi III and Justin Festi.

Marilyn was the oldest of 6 siblings and she developed the role of caregiver early in life. This helped to prepare her for a lifetime of devotion to raising her own 5 children and her grandchildren. Her guidance, love, perseverance and determination created lasting memories for all of her loved ones.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 8th at 11:00 am in the St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
