Maria G. Cowan

Maria G. Cowan, 93, of Pinellas Park, Florida and formerly of Dover died Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Suncoast Hospice House.

Born in Salerno, Italy she was a daughter of the late Michael and Helen Curcio Petrullo. Maria was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cowan on February 14, 1976; brother, Tony Petrullo; sisters, Carmi Stauffer and Judy Neading.

She graduated from Dover High School and attended Tiffin University. Maria retired in 1989 from Sparta Ceramics where served as a union officer, and had also worked at the Dover VFW. Maria was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Navarre Moose Club, New Philadelphia VFW and Elks Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Ronald) Harding of St. Petersburg, Florida; brother, Charlie (Alice) Petrullo of Dover; sisters, Lena Grandison of Dover, Lucy (Dwight) Wheeler of New Philadelphia, Betsy Gingery of Florida; two grandsons, Ryan (Antonia) Morris and Christian Harding.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 22 at 1:30 pm in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. There are no calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
