Margaret Sullie

November 9, 1926 — August 30, 2016

Margaret Sullie, age 89, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016.

She was born November 9, 1926, to Julius A. "Andy" and Mary J. Gyurgyovics Sullie, at Dover, in the house where she lived nearly her entire life. Margaret graduated from Dover's St. Joseph High School and went on to enroll in the nursing program at Massillon State Hospital, becoming a registered nurse. She worked for Akron Children's Hospital, and then entered the United States Navy, serving as a nurse at Bethesda, Maryland, Chicago, Illinois, and Camp Lejeune at Jacksonville, North Carolina. Upon her discharge from the service, she was employed by Union Hospital at Dover until her retirement. Shortly afterward, Margaret suffered a debilitating stroke, the affects of which she dealt with for more than 25 years. Joanne Sullie of Dover said of her sister, "Her life was exemplary her example nurtured my growth. In recent years, until the time of her death, when I asked her how she felt, her response was always, 'I'm fine.' Her death was gracious. Rest in peace. I love you."

Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Church at Dover, but her infirmities prevented her from attending in recent years. She was a talented painter and enjoyed knitting and doing craftwork.

In addition to her sister, Joanne; Margaret is survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Cheslock of New Philadelphia; her nieces and nephew, Laura (Jeff) Spray of Green, Michael Cheslock of Columbus, and Brenda Cheslock of Strasburg; and her great-nephews, Scott, Kevin and Adam Spray.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen Cheslock; and her brothers, Paul (in infancy) and Carl Sullie; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Sullie.

Margaret will be buried privately in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery, Dover.
