Margaret Jane Knauss

July 28, 1913 — March 1, 2008

Margaret Jane Knauss, 94, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, Mar. 1,
2008, in her home.

Born, Jul. 28, 1913, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Robert
Howell and Florence A. Wolfe Williamson. Margaret attended Miami
University and received her teaching certificate. She taught school at
the elementary level in Dover prior to her marriage, and again, later in life, in Bolivar, Mineral City and New Cumberland.

Margaret was a long-time member of the First Moravian Church in Dover.
She held a life-membership in the University Club - A.A.U.W., of which she was very proud. Margaret also belonged to the Lady Elks Club and to several area bridge clubs. She especially enjoyed reading and going to the Tuscarawas County Library. Margaret's true passion was travel, which she did extensively in Europe, North Africa, Central and South America.

She was an exceptionally wonderful lady, who was always interested in life, and had friends of all ages. She will be missed.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Knauss (Pete) Paras of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, Robert (Aleisy) Knauss of New Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Constance Wong and Bill Paras; great-granddaughter, Alexis Paras; sister, Elizabeth Orlowski Carlson of Edgewater, FL; niece and nephews, Sandra Burns, and Joseph and Richard Orlowski.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-two years, Charles E. Knauss, in 1970.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Wednesday, Mar. 5, 4 - 7 p.m. A funeral service for Margaret will be held Thursday, Mar. 6, at 11 a.m., in the First Moravian Church, with Rev. Allen L. Bergmann officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the church.
