Loretta F. Griffin

Loretta F. (Weaver) Griffin, 77, of Dover, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 9, 2011.

Loretta was born March 5, 1934 in Barnhill, Ohio to the late John L. Weaver and Lillian A. Holmes Weaver. In 1943, the family moved to Uhrichsville, Ohio where Loretta attended Uhrichsville High School, graduating in the class of 1952. While in high school, she was active in the Uhrichsville High School Marching Band. She also worked at Marshall's Grocery Store. After graduation, she worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. Loretta enjoyed being a ticket taker during the Tuscarawas County Fair and a school crossing guard for many years. She had many interests including cooking, baking coffee cakes and cookies.

On August 28th, 1953, she married Jack L. Griffin, son of Clarence C. Griffin and Harriett McMasters Griffin with whom she celebrated 58 years of marriage. She is also survived by a son Jon Michael "Mike" (Roxanne) Griffin of Dover and a grandson, Nathan Michael Griffin and his fianc Katie Jeandervin of Dover; brothers Gerald (Helen) Weaver of Canton, Ohio, John L. (Eve) Weaver of Ellenton, FL and sisters, Marguerite (Peggy) de Mello of Goulds, FL, and Lillian (Donald) Kennedy of Dover; a brother in law, Ed (Shirley) Griffin of Uhrichsville and sister in law, Lois Jean (Gene) Weaver of Columbus and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in law, John H. de Mello Jr.

Loretta cared very much for her family and friends with special appreciation for dear friends Pastor David and Joyce Wing and physician, Dr. Paul McFadden.

She was an active member of Dover Foursquare Gospel Church since 1996 and served on many committees. Loretta dearly loved her Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Foursquare Gospel Church, 302 E. Slingluff Ave., Dover on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 4-8pm. A Celebration of Loretta' s life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at 11am in the church with Pastor David Wing officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.
