Lois E. Garber, 94, of Strasburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 after a short illness. Born on April 27, 1924, Lois was the daughter of the late Clarence and Irene (Gerber) Shepfer of Sugarcreek. She graduated in 1942 from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School, serving as salutatorian of her class.

After graduation, Lois worked in the office of the Hoover Company in North Canton. On April 14, 1946, she married Don Garber in a ceremony at her mother’s home in Sugarcreek, officiated by her grandfather, Rev. Edward Shepfer. She and Don then moved to their farm home in Strasburg where she spent the next 67 years as a loving wife and mother. Lois was an active and faithful member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church, the Alpha Class, the Strasburg Mothers Club, and loved hosting many church and family events at her home.

Lois loved her family dearly, and is survived by her children; son, Terry (Sherri) Garber of Strasburg; daughter, Jeanne Quinlan of Copley, OH; six grandchildren, Chad Garber of Hilliard, Ohio, Carrie (Eric Hayes) Garber of Coronado, CA, Mandy (Trevor) Klar of Dover, OH, Jake (Erika) Garber of Powell, OH, Chris (Michelle) Quinlan of Akron, OH, and Brian (Suzanne) Quinlan of Copley, OH. She is also survived by her fifteen great grandchildren who held a special place in her heart, Emma, Eden, Annie, Clare, Mia, Lexi, J.T., Evan, Reese, Sara, Andrew, Weston, Lena, Zachary, and Leah.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Don Garber on Aug. 26, 2013 along with her son, Robert in 2005, infant daughter Elaine, son in law, John Quinlan, and a brother, Dale Shepfer.

Her family would like to send a very special thank you to the family and staff at Park Village for the love and wonderful care she received while a resident there.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 beginning at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Jason Humble officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7pm.
