Lloyd E. Straub

Lloyd E. Straub, age 90, of Strasburg, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in Park Village, Dover.

Born March 29, 1927, in Dover, he was a son of the late Louis and Minnie Kaserman Straub. Lloyd graduated from Dover High School in 1945, and went on to serve honorably with the United States Navy at the end of the Second World War. He married the former Doris K. Robinette, who survives, on July 16, 1948. Lloyd was employed for many years by the General Electric Corporation, Dover, from which he retired. In retirement, Lloyd and Doris traveled throughout the United States with their travel trailer.

Lloyd was a long-time member of the Pine Hill Hunting Club, Dover, and volunteered as a meat cutter for fifty years at the Strasburg Ox Roast. Lloyd was very proud, appreciative and had lasting memories of being a participant in the Cleveland Honor Flight in 2011.

In addition to his wife, Doris, Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Valerie Straub, his son, Terry (Vicky) Straub, his granddaughter, Katie (Justin) Might, and his great-granddaughters, Ryan and Andie Might, all of Strasburg. Additional survivors include his brother, Delmar Straub, his sisters-in-law, Martha Straub and Marie Lampe, also all of Dover, and his nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jeffrey Straub, his brother, Glenn Straub, and a nephew with whom he was very close, Rick Straub.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 15, at 11:30 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Jason Rissler of Strasburg’s St. John United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg, where military rites will be observed.
