Lester H. Baab

Lester H. Baab, 93, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Apr. 27, 2004, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a brief illness.

Born Jun. 9, 1910, in Dover, he was the son of the late Adam H. and Katherine Huff Baab. Lester was a graduate of Dover High School. With his father, he owned and operated the Baab Brick Co., Dover, for many years. Lester also owned and operated Preston Clay Products, North Industry. At age sixty-five, he sold his businesses and retired, but that would only last six months. Wanting to stay busy, Lester went to work for the Kimble Clay & Limestone Co., retiring over twenty years later.

He was a lifelong member of St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ, Dover. Lester�(TM)s main hobby was work, but he also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and, in years past, playing the violin.

Survivors include two daughters, E. Arlene Wallick, New Philadelphia, and Naomi Ruth Harper, Dover; a son, Marvin L. (Lorraine) Baab, Barkhamsted, CT; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Ann Maurer Baab in 1952; his second wife, Opal Peters Baab in 1993; two daughters, Mary Ellen Baab and Martha Ellen Hagloch; a granddaughter, Cynthia Yvonne Hagloch; and a sister, Eleanor Baab.

A funeral service celebrating Lester�(TM)s life will be held Friday, Apr. 30, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover.
