Kathryn Minnich

Kathryn Minnich, 87, of Strasburg died Friday, June 13, 2014 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

Born January 17, 1927 in Strasburg she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Hinig Haswell. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Minnich. Kathryn and Bob were married on June 19, 1949 and celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing on March 8, 2008. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Pete, Tom and Robert Haswell and two sisters, June Dreher and Patty Weber.

She retired from Buckeye Career Center having been the lunch room cashier for many years. Kathryn was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church and was a 1945 graduate of Strasburg High School. She was an avid Strasburg Tiger sports fan who rarely missed a game, especially watching her grandchildren play for the orange and black. She and Bob also enjoyed traveling and had been to every state in the Union.

A loving and wonderful mother and grandmother, Kathryn will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jill Minnich and Stacy (Karl) DiBacco both of Strasburg; grandchildren, Karly and Jay DiBacco; siblings, Ed (Mary) Haswell, Harriett (Jim) Duvall, Doris Minor, John (Alice) Haswell, Nancy (Howard) Beichel, Jerry Haswell and Nick (Glenna) Haswell all of Strasburg, Beverly (Les) Freshwater of New Philadelphia, Georgean (Dick) Lutz and Bertie (Ron) Gray both of Massillon.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at 11:00 am in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Monday from 5-7 pm.
