Karen S. (Reiger) Smith

Karen S. (Reiger) Smith, 56 of New Philadelphia, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2008.

Born June 14, 1952 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Helen (Shull) Reiger. In 1989, she married Wayne Smith who precedes her in death.

Karen will be remembered by her warm smile and wonderful sense of humor. She most enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her two cats; Dusty and Tiger.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in New Philadelphia, Ohio, where she was part of the Relief Society.

She is survived by a daughter; Renee (husband, Thomas) Sanders of Tuscarawas, Ohio; her granddaughter, Lauren Sanders of Tuscarawas; and her brother, Edward Reiger of Dover.

In addition to her family, she leaves behind many special friends; including her close companion; Bob Newland and her best friend Debbie West both of New Philadelphia; longtime friends, Jessie Trotter of Dover, Donna DeSerio of Uhrichsville, and Karen Ehrhart of New Philadelphia; along with all of her church family; especially, Bill and Cheryl Baumgardner, and special caregivers Susan, Jodi and Kendra of Ember Care, as well as the friends she made through Hospice.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 12:00. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 521 Stratton Ave. SW New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, from 10:00-12:00.
