Julius R. Meryo

Julius Ralph Meryo, 67, of Dover passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Community Hospice House.

He was born on September 14, 1949 in Dover to the late Julius Sr. and Doris (Maurer) Meryo. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steven Meryo.

Julius is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia “Patty” Sycks Meryo whom he married on September 8, 1973; two daughters, Julie (Antonius) Kosinda of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Amy (Joshua) Hankins of Waterville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Landon and Logan Kosinda and Taylor and Owen Hankins; sister, Shirley (Ronald) Corder of Dover.

Julius graduated from Dover High School in 1967 and then went to work for the former AMKO Service Company in Dover where he retired after 48 years. He was active in many clubs including the Dover Masonic Lodge #59, Dover Kiwanis, Akron Tadmor Shrine and the New Philadelphia Elks. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover where he previously served as a trustee and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

He always had a passion for cars, loved watching NASCAR, going on vacation with his family and spending time with his grandkids. Julius was a very kind and gentle soul; had a loving and generous heart, and was always extremely devoted to his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18 from 5-8 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory, Dover. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Interment will follow at the Dover Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at St. John’s United Church of Christ.
