Joseph J. Contini

Joseph J. Contini, 89, of Dover died Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.

He retired in 1977 from Ohio Industrial Supply at New Philadelphia after 27 years of service.

Born October 2, 1911 in Dover he was a son of the late Lawrence and Helen Gezzi Contini.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Athletic Board, life member of Knights of Columbus and was a 1930 graduate of St. Joseph High School. He played on the 1929-1930 St. Joseph basketball team. He also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

Joseph is survived by his wife Margaret Harig Contini with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on September 11, 2000.

He is also survived by two sons: Thomas J. and Christine Contini of Marysville, Ohio
Carl J. Contini of Dover

One daughter: Mary H. and Rudi Wiebe of Livonia, Michigan

Michael and Erma Contini of New Philadelphia

Four sisters: Connie Contini of New Philadelphia
Anna Contini of New Philadelphia
Florence Amicone of New Philadelphia
Catherine and Marion Warner of Dover

Two great grandchildren: Kyle and Zachary Contini

He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Schiavone

Two brothers: Lawrence and Daniel ''Jack'' Contini.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2001 at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Friday from 6-8 pm with Christian Wake Services starting at 7:30.
