John W. Meek

John W. “Woody” Meek, 82, of 328 S. Bodmer Ave., Strasburg, Ohio died Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.

He was a lifelong farmer having assisted with the family farm near Ragersville. He was also a former employee of Wallick Coal Company.

Born May 27, 1918 in Tippecanoe, Ohio, he was the son of the late John W. and Florence Hunt Meek.

John was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg and enjoyed visiting with people.

He is survived by four nieces and nephews Vivian (Gene) Willis of Strasburg, Mary Louise (George) Bitikofer of Bolivar, John E. (Karen) Meek of Sugarcreek, and Linda (Tim) Northrop of New Philadelphia along with several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors at Franklin Terrace.

John was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Blair Meek, one sister, Bernice Reiger, one nephew, Glenn Meek and one niece, Glenda Grove.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 1, 2000 at 3:00 PM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Strasburg with Rev. Gerald Schuessler officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 1-3 PM.
