John M. Lieser

John M. Lieser, 82, of Dover, Ohio died Monday, November 3, 2003 at Union Hospital.

John retired in 1984, as an employee of the Timken Company in New Philadelphia following 31 years of service. He had also previously worked for the S. Toomey Company.

Born January 7, 1921 in Dover, he was the son of the late Alva Ray “Ching” and Florence Kropp Lieser.

John was a member of the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Dover where he sang in the church choir for over forty years. He was also a charter member of the Schoenbrunn Valley Barbershop Chorus and an active chapter participant until he lost his hearing. He was a master gardener who enjoyed sharing his produce with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Snyder Lieser with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on the 20th of this month.

He is also survived by three sons David (Kay) Lieser of Wiscasset, Maine, Dan (Linda) Lieser of Columbia, South Carolina and Edward Lieser of Newbury, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Ann (Scott) Savage of Barnesville, Ohio; Eight grandchildren, Michael and Eric Lieser; Natasha, Jack, Susanna, Priscilla, Peter, and Marina Savage; One sister, Katherine (Robert) Beasley of Dover and one brother, Joe (Imogene) Lieser of Bluffton, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven M. Lieser and a brother, Earl N. Lieser.

A memorial service celebrating John�(TM)s life will be held Friday at noon in the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
