John Holden

John Holden, 76, of Midvale died Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the Hennis Care Centre.

Born December 14, 1939 in Akron he was a son of the late John J. and Frances Davis Holden. John was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

He retired from the United States Navy after a 26 year career, which included serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover Moose and Eagles Club and the New Philadelphia VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Military Channel.

John is survived by his wife, Rose Monaco Voelm Holden whom he married on December 14, 2010; stepson, Dr. Clint (Brenda) Voelm of Strasburg and step-grandson, Jonathan Voelm and his fiance Desiree Hunt of New Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating.
