John A. Dale

John A. Dale, 89, of Dover died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He retired from TRW in Minerva after 30 years of service.

Born February 7, 1924 in New Philadelphia he was a son of the late Thomas and Margaret Beitler Dale. John was also preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Dale on October 17, 1984; sister, Dorothy Ryks and a step-daughter, Debbie Dunn.

John proudly served his country during WWII with the US Army and was a member of the Dover and New Philadelphia VFW. He was a member of the Trinity Gospel Temple in Canton and in his spare time he enjoyed traveling, camping and model trains. He loved sports and was an avid Browns, OSU and NASCAR fan.

John is survived by his wife of 15 years, Anna Shaner Dunn Dale whom he married on November 14, 1997; daughters, Judy Russell of Dover and Janet Gopp of New Philadelphia; brother, Richard (Jo) Dale of Marion; step-daughters, Darla Dunn of Canton and Denise (Dan) McKenzie of Mineral City; step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Lindsay, Alex, Britney and Amanda and step-great grandchildren, Emma, Jayden, Atticus, Zoey, Addy and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 11:00 am at the Dover Burial Park with Hospice Chaplain Chad Durfee officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Dover VFW.
