Jerry L. Renner Sr.

Jerry L. Renner Sr., 77, a lifelong resident of Strasburg, Ohio died peacefully Wednesday, September 16, 2009 lovingly surrounded by his family.

Born April 12, 1932 in Strasburg, he was the son of the late William and Pauline (Egler) Renner.

Jerry was passionate about his work as a mechanic for 37 years at Cummins Diesel at Strasburg where he retired in 1996.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and the Brewster Moose lodge. After graduating from Strasburg Franklin High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was in the "Guided Missiles." He had great devotion to "Our Lady." He was known by many as "Mr. Fixit" because of his ability to repair anything. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping, and an occasional round of golf.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances Drobney Renner who he married on June 10, 1961. They were blessed with three sons, Paul Renner and fianc Tammy Emery of Port Washington, Mark (wife, Terri) Renner of New Philadelphia, and Jerry L. (wife, Paula) Renner Jr. of Brewster; eight grandchildren whom he dearly admired, Tabitha (husband, Christopher) Helwig, Joshua, Jermey, Nathan, Tyonna, Jacob, Rylee, and Isaac and a great granddaughter, Lily. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Becky Ackerman of Uhrichsville.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Renner and a sister, Mae Ellen Titus.

A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 10:00am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover with Fr. Matthew Hoover officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. Friends may call at the church Tuesday from 9-10am. A reception will follow the mass in the Family Life Center directly across from the church.
