Jerry E. Fisk

August 10, 1938 — November 29, 2010

Jerry E. "Pap" Fisk, 72, a longtime Strasburg resident, died unexpectedly Monday, November 29, 2010 in Union Hospital.

Born August 10, 1938 at Ashland, he was the son of the late Frank & Florence Gross Fisk.

While in the Marine Corps, Jerry learned the value of hard work. He held a variety of jobs over the years with companies like Oster Sand & Gravel, Simon Duplex and Kimble Mixer. He also could be found picking up painting and roofing work between busy times.

He was a member of the First Church of God at New Philadelphia.

Jerry enjoyed riding his bicycle, which was always more fun when he had one of his grandchildren along for the ride. While his children were young, he was active coaching youth sports and was a webelos leader. He had also liked squirrel hunting.

On August 1, 1959, Jerry married the love of his life Maxine Huth Fisk. They celebrated 51 years of marriage on August 1. Together they adored spending time with family (including Jerry's extended grandchildren - the family pets) and loved vacationing in Myrtle Beach. Many years ago, they had also been a part of a gospel sing touring group.

Along with Maxine, Jerry is survived by: three children, Robin (Bob) Glasgow of Dover, John (Fawne) Fisk of Strasburg, and Paula (Wes) Quillin of Dover; eight grandchildren, Travis Glasgow, Briana Lang, Erica Fisk, Raven Rohr, Madilyn Fisk, Yunger John Fisk, Felicia DiGenova and Austin Quillin; two great grandchildren, Dante Thomas and Jake DiGenova, and another great grandchild on the way; a sister, Janice (Chuck) Wheeler of New York, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, brothers, Bruce, James and John, preceded Jerry in death.

Pastors Matt Roe and Louise Worsham will officiate a service that celebrates Jerry's life on Friday, December 3 in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Strasburg at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery and a meal will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
