Jerome ''Jerry'' Schilling

Jerome “Jerry” Schilling, 82, of Dover, Ohio died Friday, January 18, 2002 in his home following an extended illness.

He retired in 1984, as a machinist for Commercial Honing at Dover where he worked for 18 years. He had previously been employed at Truck Coal in Strasburg for 21 years.

Born February 10, 1919 in Dover Township, he was the son of the late Harry and Minnie Herman Schilling.

Jerry was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. He was a World War II US Army veteran and an avid hunter for many years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann (Contini) Schilling who died Oct. 30, 1978. He is survived by his wife, Donna Harmon Kimble Schilling with whom he would have celebrated 22 years of marriage on February 15.

He is also survived by two daughters Jean Ann (Dr. Mark) Nelson of San Antonio, Texas and Cathy Sue (Ali) Trosse of Dover.

Two stepsons Steven (Paula) Kimble and Dirk (Sherry) Kimble both of Dover and a brother Curtis (Dorothy) Schilling of Walnut Creek.

Eight grandchildren Chris and Ashley Nelson; Desiree, Zack, Krista, and Landon Kimble and Kasi and Chase Kimble and his companion, Sport, his hunting dog.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Rod Kimble and two brothers, Laverne and Thomas Schilling.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Monday (today) from 6-8 pm with a Rosary service at 7:30 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover.
