Jeanne K. Boich

January 22, 1923 — February 20, 2012

Jeanne K. Boich, 89, of Dover passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Park Village Health Care Center. She was surrounded by loved ones and had been in declining health for several years.

Born Jeanne Elizabeth Keppler on January 22, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Homer H. and Ada E. (Dunlap) Keppler Sr. Following her 1941 graduation from Dover High School, she attended Miami University and Mount Union College before transferring to The Ohio State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1945 and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Her years in Columbus fostered a life-long passion for all things Ohio State. In 1973, Jeanne received a Master of Education Degree from Kent State University.

On October 22, 1949, she married Voin William Boich. Together, they raised two daughters: Becky Boich Horn and Deborah Boich Veigel. Voin preceded her in death on December 17, 1985.

Jeanne's teaching career began in Bolivar, but it was at Dover High School where she taught for many years. As a business teacher, she implemented the Cooperative Office Education Program at Dover. Additionally, she had served as casual faculty at the Tuscarawas Branch of Kent State University. Prior to her career at Dover, she utilized her business skills in the office of Carter-Christenson Manufacturing Company and as secretary for the First United Methodist Church of Dover.

As a young adult, Jeanne was very active in the Girl Scout program, following her father's love for scouting. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Dover, a former charter member of the Delta Phi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and a life member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. One of her greatest joys was watching the Buckeyes in Columbus on a Saturday afternoon. She also enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and was especially supportive of her grandchildren and their activities. They will fondly remember the pool parties she hosted and her chocolate chip cookies.

Jeanne is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Robert Horn of Dover, and Deborah and Allen Veigel of North Canton. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Amy Horn of Canton, Matthew (Sara) Ireland of Hudson, Jonathan Horn (fiance Julie Lockwood) of Columbus, and Andrew (Tara) Ireland and Laurel Horn of Dover; two great grandchildren: Kacy and Keppler Ireland; a sister and brother: Ruth (Don) Willoughby and Homer Keppler of Dover; two brothers in law, and several nephews, nieces and their families.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Rosaline and an older sister, Marjorie Ridenbaugh, three sisters in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Rev. Bruce McLaughlin will officiate graveside services on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:00am in the Dover Burial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Voin. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center in Dover. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 from 6-8pm. Jeanne's family encourages anyone wishing to wear Buckeye apparel to feel free to do so. Those unable to attend or who may wish to express a fond memory of Jeanne may sign the online guestbook by visiting the "obituaries and flowers" link on the funeral home website at www.tolandherzig.com

Oh! Come let's sing Ohio's praise
And songs to Alma Mater raise;
While our hearts rebounding thrill,
With joy which death alone can still
