Jane Schooff

Jane Schooff, 83, of Dover passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at TriPoint Hospital in Painesville, Ohio.

Born on November 3, 1938, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Margaret (Ricksecker) Zollar. She graduated with the class of 1956 from Dover High School. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin, which is where she met her husband, David R. “Dave” Schooff, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2020. Jane graduated from UW with a degree in Physical Therapy. While at the university, she was a proud member of the Chi Omega Sorority.

She worked as a physical therapist at Union Hospital and Starlight School for over 19 years, where she retired.

Jane was a lifelong member of the First Moravian Church in Dover where she was an Elder, Trustee, and part of the Women’s Fellowship for many years. She also served on the Community Hospice Board, TWIG with the Union Hospital Auxiliary, Trumpet in the Land Board, and the Tuscarawas County Historical Society.

Together, Dave and Jane had three adult children: daughter, Leslie Maitri Canniff of Charlotte, NC and her husband David Canniff,- daughter, Margaret (Meg) Slowey of Perry, OH and her husband Rob Slowey - and son, David (Mike) Schooff of Hillsborough, NC and his wife Angie Schooff. She had six grandchildren: Natalie and Nate Woodcock, Robbie, Catherine and Mary Slowey, and David Michael Schooff; a sister, Suzanne Rinderknecht; and a sister-in-law, Charlene Zollar; along with her niece, Joan Hill.

In addition to Dave and her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother; Leland “Lee” Zollar.

Friends are invited to call at the First Moravian Church in Dover on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 10-11:00 am. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor John Wallace following calling hours at 11:00 am. Interment will be next to Dave at Dover Burial Park.
