James J. "Jim" Kennedy

James J. “Jim” Kennedy, of State College, PA died Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Born September 27, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Donald and Virginia Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife Andrea, whom he married May 18, 1985, and three sons: Matthew (Melanie), Phillip (Kristine), Lincoln (Megan), and two granddaughters Jackie O., and Virginia. He is also survived by one sister Elizabeth Kennedy, four nieces, two nephews, eight great nieces, three great nephews, and his friend and mentor Tim Manard.

Jim was the Scout Executive of the Juniata Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America in Reedsville, PA. He began his career with the Boy Scouts of America in 1984 in Columbus, OH and also served councils in Zanesville, OH, Flint and Lansing, MI, and Worcester, MA.

An Eagle Scout, Jim was a graduate of Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School and Ohio Dominican College. He had served in a variety of volunteer capacities including Kiwanis, Cub Scout Leader, baseball coach, various school committees in Waverly MI and Spencer, MA. In addition, he was a member of Rotary Clubs in Burton and Lansing/Waverly Michigan, Worcester, MA, and Lewistown, PA where he served on the boards and in Burton as the club president in 1995 and had been a member of several Elks Lodges including Lancaster, Mount Vernon, and Dover OH and State College.

Jim was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College. He had previously served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and youth group leader. He was 3rd Degree and Charter Member of Blessed Sacrament Knights of Columbus in Burton Michigan.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 19th starting at 1:30 pm in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Friday from 12:30 pm until 1:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, Jim has requested memorials be made to the Juniata Valley Council, BSA - John M. Kriner II Lodge - 9 Taylor Drive Reedsville, PA 17084 in his memory.
