James Greer Wright

October 31, 1977 — October 1, 2018

James Greer Wright, 40, of Massillon and formerly of Gnadenhutten passed away suddenly on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.

Born on October 31, 1977 in Bethesda, Maryland he was the son of the late James Richard “Jim” and Idabelle “Ida” (McLaren) Wright of Gnadenhutten. His father preceded him in death on July 13, 2013. James was a mentor to many, passionate about what he believed in, non-judgmental, conservative, fearless, positive, optimistic, athletic, and witty. He learned many of these attributes from his father. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Everett Wright and Shirley (Bud) Jenkins, and maternal grandparents; Thomas and Katherine McLaren.

James was a graduate of Indian Valley High School with the class of 1996. He attended Shawnee State University. James started his career at Concept Services in Medina, where he worked for 12 years. He mentored many of his colleagues throughout the years. He later operated his own business, Exclusive Development.

On September 1, 2012, he married the love of his life and best friend, Lisa Stoller, who survives. He was a devoted father and husband, and always put his family first. He will also be sadly missed by his Mother; Ida; three children; Kiera Nikole Swinderman, Christian Thomas "CT" Wright, and Cade William Wright all of Massillon; brother, Thomas Everett Wright of Louisville; sister, Katherine Christina (David) Hall of Newcomerstown; niece, Kendall Ann Fisher of Newcomerstown; grandmother; Alice Joyce Wright of Port Washington; along with many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

James grew up in a military family and was very proud to be an American. He loved to learn and followed the news and current events daily. He enjoyed debating and always had an answer to any question. He began playing baseball at age six and continued to play through college. He played Class A baseball for over 20 years. He was proud to coach his oldest son, Christian.

The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover are handling the arrangements. Friends are invited to call at the Harvest Church, 420 W. 3rd St., Dover, Ohio 44622 on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm. The family suggests that attendees wear their favorite jersey to honor James. A celebration of James’ life will take place at the church on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:30am with Pastor Hombre Liggett officiating. Burial will follow at Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served in the church social hall.
