James D. Lieser

James D. Lieser, 87, of the Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar and formerly of East Sparta died Friday evening, April 3, 2015 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.

He retired in 1993 as an industrial engineer for the U.S. Ceramic Tile Company following 48 years of service.

Born Oct. 6, 1927 in Dover, Ohio , he was the son of the late Roy D. and Anna I. (Williams) Lieser. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded by a sister, Patricia Randall.

He was a 1945 graduate of Dover High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta. He was also a member of the St. John' s United Church of Christ in Dover and served as a scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #86 at St. Johns. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid gardener.

Jim will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of nearly 64 years Greta H. (Haney) Lieser who he married June 10, 1951; three sons, Joseph B. (Anita) Lieser of Marblehead, Ohio, Keith (partner, Krista Rabe) Lieser of Scottsdale, Arizona and Peter (Dana) Lieser of Liberty Twp., Ohio; three grandchildren, Eric James Lieser and Zachary J. Lieser both of Phoenix, Az and Carrie M. Lieser of Hudson, Mass., two step grandchildren, Jason and Matthew Furie and a great granddaughter, Raelynn Lieser; a brother, Jack (Eleanor) Lieser of Dover and a brother in law, Glen Randall.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 beginning at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where military honors will be held. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until 2pm.
