James "Chip" Eichel

April 25, 1961 — November 5, 2016

James "Chip" Eichel, 55, of Carrollton, and a former resident of the New Philadelphia-Dover area, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, due to complications that occurred during open heart surgery at. O.S.U. Ross Heart Hospital. His wife, Teri, was by his side.

The son of Jim and Karen Eichel of New Philadelphia, Chip was born April 25, 1961. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School and retired from the Ohio Dept. of Transportation, where he was a mechanic and signal electrician. Chip's favorite activities were riding his Road Star, cruising around in his Jeep and spending time outdoors on his and Teri's farm. He loved riding his horse, J.R., playing with his dogs, Major, Oreo and Athena, and his favorite cats, Snowball and Clarity. Sandy Island in the Florida Keys was a special vacation destination.

In addition to his parents, and his loving wife, Teri Lynn McCauley Eichel, Chip is survived by his children, Joey Eichel, Gaby Eichel, Kyle Luikart, Ty Taylor and Erin (Nate) Landis; his sisters, Kellie Eichel Shaffer (nephews, Sam and Ben Shaffer), and Johnna (Gary) McCauley Payne (nephew, John Payne); his brother, Doug (Tracy) McCauley (niece, Ashley [James] Todd and great-niece, Zoe, nephews, Erik Zorger and Jimmy McCauley), his special "Auntie," Shirley Eichel, Uncle John (Cheryl) Eichel, Uncle Chip (Regina) Green and Aunt Melanie (Bob) Rennicker; the brightest stars in his world, his grandchildren, Jaiden Taylor Sneed, Eliana Mae Landis, and Ryker Nathan Landis; his cousins, including Lonnie (Trina) Eichel, Ashley (Matt) Noretto and Shawn (Lora) Eichel; and his many dear friends.

He was met in the white light by his loved ones that went before him, Grandmother Evelyn (Roy) Eichel Humrighouse, Grandfather James Eichel, Grandmother Wilma (Howard) Pfeiffer and Grandfather George James Green. Also preceding him to Heaven were his infant daughter, Cassidy Eichel, his grandson's daddy, Javis Sneed, and Great-grandfather and Great-grandmother, Lloyd and Cora Rhodes Eichel.

At Chip's request, no calling hours or funeral will be held. Instead, after donating his beautiful green eyes, he will be cremated. Arrangements are in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. Chip's life will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 28 in Ricardo's, 115 Front Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Please join the family and share a memory of Chip. Chip was a strong believer in organ donation, would ask that everyone consider becoming an organ donor.
