James C. Fox

April 30, 1932 — July 7, 2015

James C. "Jim" Fox, 83, of Dover passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Park Village Health Care Center after a brief illness.

He loved his family and friends and all of the caretakers at Park Village who provided tender care to him during his residence. He enjoyed a visit and conversation with anyone, talking about cars, racing, his Navy memories, and good food, including his annual banana split for his birthday. He was fond of the annual Fox family reunion; looking at the photo albums, talking to family and out bidding anyone, especially Aunt Jane at the Pound Auction.

Born April 30, 1932, in Roswell, he was the son of the late Harold A. "Deetz" Fox and Lydia A. (Deserio) Fox. Jim was a 1950 graduate of Dennison St. Mary's High School. He attended John Carroll University and later transferred to Kent State University. He served in the United States Navy. He worked for the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home where he helped run the ambulance service for many years. He later retired from the Iron Workers Local No. 550 in Canton, Ohio.

He is survived by son James C. "Jacy" (Mary) Fox, II, of Lexington, Texas, daughter Sarah E. "Sally" (Henry) Young of Athens, son John F. (Sandra) Fox of New Philadelphia, and daughter M. Kathryn "Kathy" (Scott) Muehlbauer of Westerville; grandchildren: James "J.T." Fox of Lexington, Texas, Bryan (Liz) Young and Kyle Young both of Oakdale, Connecticut, Lacee (Justin) Hutchison of Tuscarawas, Dylan Teter of Kent, Zachary J. Muehlbauer, Lilli Hills, and Claire Hills all of Westerville. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert H. "Bob" (Andi) Fox of New Philadelphia, and David A. (Judy) Fox of Okatie, South Carolina, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In honoring Jim's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Following the mass a military service will take place in the church parking lot. There are no scheduled calling hours. Those unable to attend, or who would like to share a fond memory of Jim may do so by visiting the "obituaries & flowers" link on the funeral home's website.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the: Society for Equal Access Independent Living Center 1458 Fifth Street NW, New Philadelphia, Ohio, 44663.
