Henry L. Garrett Sr.

Henry L. Garrett Sr., 85, of New Philadelphia passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House.



Born August 19, 1933 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late James and Helen Tharp Garrett. Henry was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Garrett on October 23, 2003; three brothers and four sisters.



Henry retired in 1995 from Gradall after 35 years of service as a welder. Following his retirement, he worked as a security guard at New Towne Mall for another 15 years. Henry loved being outdoors, especially gardening, hunting, fishing, trapping and trap shooting. He was also a member of the Coshocton Sportsman’s Club, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.



Henry is survived by his children, Debra (Steve) Miller, Kelly (Samantha) Garrett both of New Philadelphia, Henry (Vickie) Garrett of Sherrodsville; brothers, Donnie (Marilyn) Garrett of Uhrichsville, Ronnie (Ruth Ann) Garrett of Tuscarawas; sisters, Beverly (Bill) Langdon of Stillwater, Carolyn (Larry) Anderson, Jeanann Padgett both of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Leland, Shawn, Jeremy, Jason, Braxston, Mackenzie, Kimberly, Gracie and nine great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9 at 10:30 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Following the service, a funeral luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
