Helen J. Souers, 90, of Dover passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Union Hospital.

Born August 23, 1919 in Fairpoint (Belmont County), Ohio she was a daughter of the late Melvin J. and Mary M. Boich.

After living in several areas in Ohio, Helen and her family located in Dover in 1933. She graduated from Dover High School in 1937 and was employed at the Exchange National Bank and remained in banking until her retirement from Bank One (now J.P. Morgan Chase) in 1982.

Helen and Robert L. Souers met in early 1947 and were married on June 17, 1948 in the Second (South) Moravian Church at Dover. They were blessed with a wonderful son, Geoffrey R. Souers. Helen is survived by her husband Robert, son Jeff (wife, Suzanne) Souers of Wooster, granddaughter, Gretchen also of Wooster and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Weaver; brother, Voin Boich and grandson, Zachary Souers.

Helen was an active bowler in the local ladies leagues at Thomas Alley's and Boulevard Lanes in her earlier years. She was a member of the Second Moravian-South Moravian Church where she served as a trustee and a long time financial secretary. She is currently a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover.

Helen was a kind loving person who was also a kind loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother in law. She enjoyed sports and was a loyal follower, and supporter, of the careers of her son Jeff, her grandson Zach and granddaughter Gretchen. She will be sadly missed by her family, who loved her very much as she loved them. She was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

Per Helen's request, there will be no calling hours. A private family service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Pastor John Wallace officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. A public memorial service will also be held on Tuesday at 11:30 am in the First Moravian Church at Dover.
