Our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Helen Smith, 87, of Strasburg, left with the Angels on Thursday, October 2, 2008, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born February 8, 1921 in Knoxville, TN, she moved to Ohio while still in her teens. She lived in Strasburg most of her life.

Helen's greatest joys in life were her family and friends. We will always miss her sweet ways, and kind words of wisdom and comfort. She demonstrated great courage in the acceptance of her illness, comforting us with her faith and certainty of life hereafter.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Troy; sons, Louis and George; granddaughter, Kristy Smith; and her sister, Dolly Graves Schaub.

Survivors include: her son, Eugene (Ann) Smith; daughters-in-law, Carol (Ray) Wolfe and Sandra Smith; granddaughters, Vicky (Mike) Kuecher, Debra Smith, Cindy Leglise, and Mandy (David) Cox; grandsons, Jeff (Tami) Smith, Curt Smith, and Tim Ennis; great grandchildren, Wendi, Melissa, Drew, Jason, and Hunter; a great-great grandson, Jakob; brother, Ulysses (Betty) Graves; sisters, Beulah (Glenn) Sexton, Trula (Jim) Caudell, Edna Sexton, Lily Mae (David) Johnson, and Virgie (Russ) Adkins. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.

In keeping with Helen's wishes, a private, family ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 4.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover.
